Yankees Corey Kluber throws a 20-pitch bullpen session

Boston-Corey Kluber finally returned to the mound on Friday, trying to return from the tense shoulders that had set him aside since May.

When asked if he was confident he would be back by the end of the regular season, Kluber replied “very”.

“The way I felt thrown, the way I bounced [and] “Calendar,” said Kluber, who would return in explaining his beliefs.

Kluber threw 20 balls (all fastballs) in the previous bullpen session. Yankees lose to Red Sox 6-2 Friday night at Fenway Park.

Right-handed people said things went as expected.

“Above all, it’s a stepping stone,” said Kluber. “Every time I reach a new distance [throwing] Or, getting off the mound gives you a sense of security after the first mound goes under the belt, and it’s easier to not have it in your heart the next time you do it. “

Kluber, who signed a $ 11 million contract a year before the season, seemed rounded when he suffered a second shoulder tension over the years. According to Cashman, the 35-year-old has no plans to return to rotation until September.

Kluber again refused to put the timeline on potential returns, saying he prefers not to look too far ahead.

Luis Severino, who returned from Tommy John’s surgery last year, will also be practicing live batting on Saturday to rehabilitate from the tense crotch he suffered at the start of his second rehab.

If that works, Severino will be able to start another rehab assignment next week.

The other two right-handed Michael King and Clarke Schmidt, who the Yankees are hoping for depth from this season, haven’t come out yet.

King needs to get rid of when he can recover from a bruise on his middle finger that landed in Illinois.

Schmidt, who hurt his elbow during spring training, is ready to play for the first time this season, according to Aaron Boone. Schmidt recently threw two innings of live batting practice.

His rehab is likely to take place in Tampa, either in the Low A team or in the Florida Complex League, and is expected to be three innings and about 40 balls “in the next few days.”

Miguel Andujar and Clint Frazier will play indefinitely.

Andujar has to shoot another cortisone on his sick left wrist on Thursday, Boone said.

“Hopefully, that’s fine,” he said. “He was recovering, but still in pain. They are optimistic, not long-term.”

If his wrist responds to the shot, he can resume baseball activity on Saturday.

Frazier is still looking for an answer to his ongoing vision problem. Boone was asked if Frazier could do it this season and said, “I don’t know.”

Fraziers can exercise and run, but have not started baseball activities.
