Warriors trading with Kelly Oubre to relieve Klay Thompson’s pain

On the day the Warriors learned that five-time all-star guard Klay Thompson would miss the second consecutive season due to injury, Golden State agreed to buy Forward Kelly Ubre from Oklahoma City Thunder. Media reported on Thursday.

According to ESPN, this is the top 20 protected picks. If the Golden State finishes in the Top 20, Oklahoma City will get a second round selection from the Golden State.

The Warriors, who were suffering from injuries, finished last year with the worst NBA record of 15-50. They used No. 2 in a Wednesday night draft about James Wiseman the same day they learned that Thompson could have been catastrophically injured.

Oubre, who was the 15th in the 2015 draft, spent only a few days on Thunder’s roster. On Monday, he was shipped by Sands as part of a deal that took 10 All-Star Guard Chris Paul to Arizona.

Oubre, who averaged 18.7 points and 6.4 rebounds at Sands last year, may not be cheap for the Warriors. Golden State will bring a $ 14.4 million expiring contract to the trade exception, with an additional $ 66 million tax on the team for each ESPN.

Warriors will charge a $ 134 million luxury tax on the roster, but if NBA revenues decline this season, the team will be bailed out.

Thompson tore the right Achilles tendon during the pickup game. Last year, Thompson missed recovery from surgery to repair a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. This was supported by the loss of the Golden State to the Toronto Raptors in the 2019 NBA Finals.

Thompson scored an average of 21.5 points per game for the 2018-19 season, raising his career average for eight seasons to 19.5 points per game. He is part of three Golden State NBA championship teams.
