Volunteers hand out Thanksgiving meals to homeless men at the Lucerne Hotel on the Upper West Side

Manhattan’s Upper West Side (WABC)-Volunteers sought to create a special holiday for a homeless man housed in a Manhattan hotel.

The group “Upper West Side Open Hearts” distributed 400 Thanksgiving meals at Thanksgiving in Lucerne.

They also handed out coffee and donuts at Bell Claire on Thursday morning.

CeFaan Kim reported Wednesday that the judge rejected efforts to prevent the movement of homeless men from the Lucerne Hotel on the Upper West Side.

Handouts were followed by spiritual walk-and-talk and volunteer-led AA meetings.

On Wednesday, the judge ruled that the city could move men out of the hotel after neighbors fought to take them away.

Approximately 200 homeless men are now able to move to the Radisson Hotel in Lower Manhattan, which could appeal.

The owner of the Bronx pizzeria was commended by the city council for his efforts to help those in need.
