Volunteers and politicians help feed hundreds of people in need of Thanksgiving at Harlem’s National Action Network

Harlem, Manhattan (WABC)-Giving back to those in need is the main focus of Thanksgiving, exactly what the New Yorker did at the National Action Network’s annual event in Harlem.

Packed with traditional Thanksgiving feasts-turkey and all trimmings-distributed to long lines of people who thanked the National Action Network for helping many when dealing with food insecurity. I did.

“I am grateful that I got another job yesterday in the midst of a pandemic, when I was very difficult and alive,” said Jebon Houghton.

It’s time to celebrate another year and get together.

“I don’t cook, so I’m grateful for the food,” Gwendolyn Mason said.

“It’s traditionally packaged thanks to COVID, so we don’t scoop up food, we distribute it, so we’re doing healthy things,” said Rev. Al Sharpton.

Food gifts are also an opportunity for politicians to show their appreciation to the community.

Mayor Bill de Blasio said, “It’s a day to thank. It’s a day to really thank. Pastor, thank you.” “Thank you as the voice of conscience for this city, this state and this country.”

The mayor of Brooklyn, who will soon become the mayor of New York City, said it was a day we all should be aware that it is better to give than to receive.

Mayor-elect Eric Adams said, “You will be rewarded for depositing in the Social Bank of Life. You can use the equity when you need it and all these people are making the deposit today. I love them very much. I have. “

Meanwhile, 12,000 Thanksgiving meals were delivered to the returning elderly in New York City. According to the organizers, more than 300 City Meals on Wheels volunteers helped prepare meals in East Harlem before delivering them door-to-door.
