It happened around 6:15 pm on the corner of Wall About Street and Mercy Avenue in Williamsburg.

Officials said a 27-year-old man in traditional Hasidic clothing was walking there when he approached him from behind and ran away wearing the Shtreimel hat he was wearing.

According to police, Shtreimel was valued at $ 8,000.

It was unknown whether the suspect said anything to the victim.
