The UFC packed up their luggage and left Long Island, but it seems that the octagon will soon return to New York.
UFC President Dana White talks to reporters following Saturday’s conclusion Event in Nassau County for the first time in 5 yearsThe plan shown is scheduled to return to the Madison Square Garden Show in the fall.
“Hopefully I’ll be back at MSG in November,” White told UBS Arena.
White’s words weren’t a promise, but there’s no doubt that the UFC will break into the garden on one of the first two weekends in November. This promotion has been held annually in the arena since early 2016, when professional mixed martial arts were fully licensed in New York. Due to the limited UFC, only the COVID-19 pandemic interrupted the city’s battle schedule. The show at the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas and Abu Dhabi, Arab Emirates was then called Fight Island.
UFC operates garden events as a premium night on the UFC schedule. At its 2016 debut, mercury star Conor McGregor added a lightweight title to match the featherweight crown. A year later, the legendary Georges St-Pierre came out of his retirement to claim a middleweight belt.
The championship match between Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington (welterweight) and Rose Namajunas and Chan Weiley (strawweight) exceeded the bill, and was the light of the year between Justin Gaethje and Michael Chandler. Class scrap is a hype.
The exact date of this year’s event is unknown, but Combat in Brazil has quoted sources related to companies that have fixed the date as November 12. Also, at this stage it is unclear which match the promotion will schedule.
