Uber Eats has an order for cannabis in Ontario, but no delivery

Toronto, Ontario: Online food ordering company Uber Eats has announced a partnership with Tokyo Smoke to make cannabis available for purchase in Ontario, Canada.

Uber Eats began ordering marijuana on November 22nd.

However, Uber Eats does not deliver marijuana. This is because customers need to receive marijuana directly.

“By combining the streamlined ordering process with the Uber Eats app with Tokyo Smoke’s face-to-face pick-up service, we’re creating a new end-to-end experience for responsible cannabis orders across the state,” said GM of Uber Eats Canada Lola. I am. Kasim quoted by the New York Post.

According to the company’s website, Tokyo Smoke has approximately 50 locations throughout Ontario, including Windsor-based stores.

Orders placed through Uber will be available in the store within 60 minutes. There, the customer must present proof of identity and age.

This partnership is seen as a step towards Uber’s entry into the profitable marijuana market previously proposed by CEO Dara Khosrowshahi.

Uber Eats has been delivering alcohol for a long time, but Khosrowshahi said in an April interview on CNBC that marijuana delivery within the United States is also planned under US law.

In 2018, Canada became the first country to legalize the use of marijuana for recreational purposes, and as a result, many cannabis companies are headquartered in Canada, despite operating in the United States.

It’s unclear if Uber will try to expand marijuana services across Canada.
