U.S. stocks are declining with a focus on earnings

New York, July 27 (Xinhua)-US stocks fell Tuesday morning as investors focused on earnings reports from major tech companies.

Immediately after the opening bell, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 222.68 points (0.63%) to 34,921.63. The S & P 500 fell 21.07 points (0.48%) to 4,401.23. The Nasdaq Composite fell 48.92 points (0.33%) to 14,791.79.

All 11 major S & P 500 sectors retreated in the morning trading, leading energy losses by 1.8%.

Tesla shares were under pressure despite higher-than-expected quarterly reports. US electric vehicle makers said Monday that total sales in the second quarter of 2021 reached $ 11.96 billion, up 98% year-on-year.

Other major tech companies such as Apple, Google’s parent company Alphabet, and Microsoft will report after the closing Tuesday.

Investors are also paying attention to the Federal Reserve Board as the US Central Bank kicks off a two-day meeting on Tuesday and continues with Fed Chair Jerome Powell’s policy announcements and press conference on Wednesday.
