Two children dead, mother in custody in Bronx: NYPD

MOUNT HOPE, Bronx (PIX11) — Two boys have died and their mother is in custody in the Bronx, police confirmed to PIX11 News on Saturday.
Police said the boy, 11 months and 3 years old, was found with water running in his clothed bathtub and overflowing on the bathroom floor. had a stab wound. They were taken to hospital but died from their injuries.
“My father was in the hallway ‘Help! Help!’ when he brought in two bloody, lifeless boys,” said family neighbor Shannon Holyfield. …I can’t sleep tonight…I’m so sad.”
The horrifying ordeal began when police were called to the Mount Hope apartment, which authorities called the family’s shelter, around 7:20 p.m. They found the mother, 24, on the third floor and took her into custody without incident. She was taken to the hospital, police said.
Before heading to the hospital, a friend of the family told police that the woman’s children were in the care of their father, according to the New York Police Department. Police were recalled to the apartment due to reports of reactions.
“When patrol officers returned to the apartment, they found an 11-month-old boy and a 3-year-old man who had multiple puncture wounds around their bodies and were unresponsive.”
Officers and families tried to revive the children using CPR until an ambulance arrived, but the children were not saved. Police say the mother is in custody but has not yet been arrested.
Police say there has been at least one incident of domestic violence between the couple in the past, but that was several years ago.
