Twitter is hiring a well-known hacker to review platform security

Twitter employs one of the world’s most famous hackers to protect its platform from security breaches.

This week’s social network has named Peiter Zatko, a well-known hacker for dealing with mudge, as security officer. Zatko has a broad mission to overhaul the company’s practices and officially seizes the reins after a 45-60 day review.

Zatko was hired months after Twitter was victimized by Bitcoin fraud on some of its hottest accounts, including President-elect Joe Biden, Tesla CEO Elon Musk, and Berkshire Hathaway’s Warren Buffett. It is done.

An extraordinary hacker told Reuters in an interview that he would pay special attention to Twitter’s physical security and platform integrity to help fight platform operations.

Zatko recently oversaw the security of the electronic payment unicorn Stripe. Prior to that, he worked on a special project at Google and oversaw the distribution of grants to cybersecurity projects at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) of the Department of Defense.

He also told Reuters that he was also interested in Twitter’s ongoing efforts to improve public conversations and reduce the spread of false information, and encouraged users to read the story before sharing it in the retweet process. He praised the company’s recent move to add friction to it.

He said the next step might be to get people to understand long conversations before joining it, Zatoko said.

Also on Tuesday, the social media giant unveiled a new tool called Fleet. This allows users to post photos and text that disappear in 24 hours. The fleet resembles a story that has been stable for years on Instagram, Facebook, and Snapchat.

With post wire.
