Trump campaign appears to break ties with attorney Sydney Powell

President Trump’s campaign on Sunday distanced him from Sydney Powell, a lawyer who boldly claimed widespread fraud as a member of Trump’s post-election legal team.

“Sydney Powell is practicing the law himself,” Trump’s private attorney Rudy Giuliani said in a statement. “She is not a member of the Trump Legal Team. She is also not a lawyer in the president’s personal position.”

Powell stood side by side with Giuliani at a marathon press conference last Thursday. There, they outlined separate cases of election fraud that allegedly benefited Joe Biden in the presidential election.

Powell claimed at a press conference without providing evidence that the machine used by the Dominion voting system switched the voter’s choice from Trump to Biden with the help of Smartmatic software.

On Sunday, Dominion representative Michael Steele shot down the voter Switch’s allegations.

“This is a nonpartisan American company. It’s physically impossible for our machine to switch votes from one candidate to another,” Steel told Fox News.

Powell told CBS News in a statement that he understood “today’s press release.”

She added: “I continue to represent #WeThePeople, whose votes for Trump and other Republicans were stolen by a large-scale scam by Dominion and Smartmatic. Chips will fall everywhere, and we’re this great Protect the foundation of the Republic. “
