Texas mom killed in a drive-by shooting in Maryland during a visit to drop her son at a naval school

Annapolis, Maryland-Innocent Houston’s mother was killed in a drive-by shooting at a hotel, which was supposed to be the time to celebrate her son’s achievements.

According to police, the woman identified by her family as Michelle Cummings was an innocent bystander during the shooting.

It happened at a hotel in Annapolis around 12:21 am on Tuesday.

The family told Eyewitness News that Cummings was in town to drop his son, who was recently awarded a scholarship to the Navy School.

Police said Cummings was sitting in the hotel’s patio area when the bullet rang. Investigators said the shot “moved a distance” when it hit Cummings.

Cummings’ son was a Westfield High School football player who promised to play at the Navy School.

On Tuesday afternoon, Spring ISD expressed its condolences in a statement. Cummings was deeply involved in the district’s activities with his son.
