Texas boaters save a plunge at the water’s edge

According to police and rescue officials, a photo of a passenger lifting his hair shows a dangerously close boat trying to jump over the edge of a dam in Texas because he was too busy to gossip.

An electric boat carrying four women was rescued from the edge of the Longhorn Dam in eastern Austin on Thursday after being swept away by strong currents at Lady Bird Lake, a reservoir along the Colorado River. KTBC reported..

“They approached the dam, but didn’t pay attention and talked to each other,” Austin police officer Brad Smith told the station.

Amazing images shared by the Austin Travis County EMS showed that the bow of the boat was sticking out of the edge of the dam just before the woman was rescued. In a short video clip, they wore life jackets lowered. It was also reflected.

James Kane, who works for Austin’s Retro Boat Rental, rushed to the scene after receiving a distress signal from passengers and immediately tied a rope to a dangerous ship approaching the edge of the dam.

Kane told the post on Friday: “I saw them 800 meters away, so I called 911. I went there and called and evaluated the situation as they were on the verge of falling from the side.”

Despite being only a few inches away from a height of 15 feet, Kane said the women seemed eerily undisturbed.

30-year-old Kane told The Post: “I don’t know if they didn’t know what to do or if they couldn’t see the other side of the dam.”

Boat rental employees said the boat was caught in a stream after women passed a sign instructing them to board the boat at least 100 yards from the edge of the dam.

“There is no way [to miss them]”He said about the warning sign. “It’s like going down the wrong road on the freeway.”

Kane said he kept the rope tied to the boat, holding the boat upside down until the rescuer arrived.

Austin Travis County EMS Staff Responded to the site After receiving multiple 119 calls that the boat is “heading to the dam”.

According to police, none of the women needed treatment after a horrific incident that could end in catastrophe.

“If you look at the other side of the Longhorn Dam, there’s actually concrete at the bottom, so if you fall, you’ll hit the concrete,” Smith told KTBC.

Smith also praised Kane’s quick ideas to help rescue him.

“Give him a prop to help with that,” Smith told the station.

Kane, who lives in Austin, said unexpected rescues were made just two months after she started working at Retro Boat Rental.

Kane said of the rescue operation: “I’m glad I was able to answer the phone.”
