Subway crooks stabbed, robbed man at Manhattan’s Union Square station
A subway robber slit a man’s face and fled with a bag Monday afternoon on a crowded Manhattan subway platform, police said.
Around 3:55 p.m., the perpetrator, believed to be in his early 20s, got into a violent altercation with the 27-year-old victim on Union Square’s Southbound N, Q, R home, police said.
During the fight, the thief reportedly slashed the man’s cheek, snatched his bag and fled.
Police said the victim was male, but MTA workers who saw the aftermath believed the victim to be female.
“She was small and stood there with blood running down her face. The man who cut her fled,” said an MTA worker. “Police were helping her put a tissue on her face. They thought he threw it, so they were searching the truck for the knife.”
Police said the victim suffered minor lacerations and refused medical attention.
Police said the suspect was around 5-foot-3 tall and was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, gray pants, a blue surgical mask and black boots.
On Friday night, a 24-year-old woman was robbed at knifepoint on the steps of the 7th Avenue and West 53rd Street Station in the Theater District around 7:15 p.m., police said. rice field.
The victim told police that the thief barked, “Give me your phone,” and she complied.
