Snake on Saluz: Poisonous Zebra Cobra Escapes North Carolina Home

Raleigh, NC-In Raleigh, NC, a venomous snake has escaped and remains free-range.

Raleigh police sent an emergency alert Tuesday morning after Zebra Cobra was found at someone’s front door.

The cobra was seen at his home in northwestern Raleigh (Sandringham Drive near the road in Lin and Leesville) around 5 pm on Monday, but the snake was worn down when animal care arrived.

“It’s very scary and dangerous. We feel we need to deal with this situation and prevent it from happening again,” said neighbor Vince Toscano.

Zebra cobras grow naturally in the deserts and arid regions of southern Africa. Snakes are highly toxic and will bite and spit when cornered.

Gregory Lubert, a professor of aquatic wildlife and animal medicine at North Carolina State University, said snake venom can cause blindness, tissue damage, and even death. He said it was the most dangerous for small children, cats and dogs.

“You’re pretty rare and you’re actually dealing with scary things,” Lubert said.

Police said anyone who found the snake should call 911 immediately. Keep away from snakes.

In North Carolina, it is legal to own a venomous snake.However, the owner must obey Some guidelines-Install an escape prevention cage and immediately warn law enforcement agencies if an escape occurs.
