Sensex opens flat in morning trading, global clues mixed

Mumbai (Maharashtra), [India], May 30 (ANI): The major domestic stock market indexes started flat Tuesday morning, trailing a variety of global clues. Auto and IT stocks rose in morning trading. Heavyweight Reliance was also up 0.26%.

BSE 30 shares Sensex rose 116 points to 62,962.38 and NSE Nifty rose 36 points to 18,634.90 in Tuesday morning trading.

In the morning, the BSE automobile index rose 0.34% and the IT index rose 0.19%. Shares of Reliance Industries rose 0.26 per cent on Tuesday morning to Rs 2,526.65 per share.

Sovar said on Monday that its fourth-quarter earnings surged, pushing the company’s shares up 5.43% in the morning.

Inox Wind has won a 150 MW repeat order from NTPC Renewable Energy. Inox shares rose 6.65% in morning trading.

In Asian markets, Hong Kong’s Hensen fell 154 points, Japan’s Nikkei average fell 99 points, China’s Shanghai fell 23 points and HNX 30 rose 8 points.

In the US market, the Dow Jones rose 328 points, the Nasdaq Composite and the S and P500 traded in positive territory, and the S and P/BMV rose 187 points.

In the European market, Amsterdam Exchange, BEL, CAC, Madrid SE and German Exchange traded in positive territory, with the FTSE100 IDX jumping 56 points.

In the foreign exchange market, the rupee started slightly lower on Tuesday morning. The local currency opened at 82.65, down two payds to the dollar at the previous close of 82.63.

The US Dollar Index (DXY), which tracks the value of the dollar against a basket of currencies, fell 0.125% to 104.17.

Domestic Institutional Investors (DII) turned to net long positions of Rs853.57 crore on Monday. Foreign Institutional Investors (FII) were also net buyers of Rs 1,758.16 crore on Monday close. (Ani)
