Sandy Olderson’s Mets does not hire a baseball president

The president of Mets told reporters on Monday that there was no baseball president under Sandy Alderson, partly because he had “restricted access” to the candidates.

Mets will instead shift the interview process and look for a new general manager.

Alderson handled baseball operations as part of his mission and said he had received “half a dozen” GM interviews so far.

The Mets front office is in the process of a makeover after Steve Cohen’s official purchase of the franchise has been officially followed by Alderson cleaning the house. Former GM Brodivan WaguĂ©nen and many of his staff left the team on November 6th.

Former Marlins president Michael Hill interviewed Mets earlier this month for a potential president of a baseball operations job.

However, Van Wagenen has been hired by one person, and Alderson has confirmed that manager Luis Rojas will be back in the 2021 season.
