Rensselaer County community is being rebuilt after the July floods

The storm damaged the road and partially collapsed.

Steve McLaughlin, Rensselaer County administrator, says the culvert and side walls under the bridge were destroyed. He says construction workers need to install a temporary bridge by the weekend. Later, he says, the crew of the highway sector will come out to build the road.

McLaughlin hopes that drivers will be able to pass by September. He says his crew has made tremendous progress. He encourages the public to have patience as they continue to rebuild the roads.

“The blow that this road received was like a bomb exploding. It’s not as easy as throwing away dirt and stones and reopening the road. Many of these need to be redesigned, in which case we It’s a temporary bridge that I had to bring, and I think most people understand it, but some are a little impatient about what’s going on, “said Steve McLaughlin, executive of Rensselaer County. Says.
