Breakout stars in the MLB postseason have legal issues.
Rays outfielder Randy Arosalena was detained in Mexico in a domestic dispute in which she attacked her ex-father and tried to leave with her daughter without the permission of her ex-wife, the mother of the child.
ESPN confirmed the report by the Mexican newspaper Yucatán Ahora and said MLB is investigating the issue. Disciplinary action falls under MLB’s domestic violence policy, as the case is family-related.
A video of the incident in which the crowd gathered and was witnessed by police officers was released. I can hear Arosalena speaking in Spanish, “Why can’t I be with my daughter, why do I give her everything?”
25-year-old Arosalena became a huge post-season star, hitting .377 with 10 home runs and 14 RBIs in Rays’ 20 playoff games. He has been nominated as an ALCS MVP.
