Raiders fired defense coordinator Paul Gwenser after defeat

Raiders fired defense coordinator Paul Gwenser on Sunday after losing to Colts 44-27 after Jets fired the defense coordinator for a game-cost electric shock decision. Due to the defeat, the Raiders will leave the game behind the dolphins at AFC’s final wild card playoff spot and the half game behind the Raiders playing the Browns in “Monday Night Football.”

Raiders’ defense allowed 456 yards to Colts, four touchdowns and three field goals to drop 2-4 on the new home. Vegas allows 30.1 points per game, the third highest in the NFL. Only the Jets and Cowboys allow more points.

Las Vegas needs to adapt to interim defensive coordinator Rod Marineri, a former Lions head coach who was Raiders’ defensive line coach, during a short turnaround before hosting the Chargers on Thursday. The Raiders host the dolphins and end their schedule to visit Broncos.
