London (AP)-Prince William “tentatively welcomed” an independent investigation into the situation surrounding the BBC interview with his mother, Princess Diana, a royal official said Thursday.
William, second in succession to the throne, said in a statement that the investigation was “a step in the right direction.” He added that it “should help establish the truth behind the action” that led to the interview, “subsequent decisions made by the BBC people at the time.”
The BBC conducted a 1995 interview investigation after Diana’s brother Charles Spencer persuaded journalist Martin Bashir to agree to the interview this month using fake letters and other fraudulent tactics. Announced that it has appointed a former senior judge to lead. ..
The study will consider whether the actions taken by broadcasters and Bashir were appropriate, and whether those actions influenced Diana’s interview decisions. The BBC also knows how much the BBC knows about the “mockup bank statement” that Charles Spencer claimed to have made by Bashir in order to show the payments made to Spencer and the staff working in the royal family. I will also find out about Taka.
Mentioning the relationship between Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles, Diana famously said, “There were three of us in this marriage,” a 1995 interview with millions of people. Seen and sent a shock wave to the monarchy.
Diana divorced Charles in 1996 and died in a car accident in Paris in 1997 after being chased by a paparazzi. Charles married Camilla, now the Duchess of Cornwall, in 2005.
