Washington, December 7: More than 15 million children in the United States have tested positive for Covid-19 since the pandemic began in early 2020, according to the latest report by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the Children’s Hospital Association.
About 114,000 of these Covid-19 cases have been added in the past four weeks, according to reports.

A total of 28,600 children’s Covid-19 cases were reported in the most recent week to December 1, the report added, adding that the cases are likely to be significantly lower than those in children.

More age-disaggregated data are needed to assess the severity of disease associated with new variants and potential long-term effects, the report said.
“While it is important to recognize the direct impact of the pandemic on children’s health, it is important to identify the long-term effects on the physical, mental and social well-being of this generation of children and young people. , is something that needs to be addressed,” said the AAP.
