Brooklyn was the epicenter of gun violence in the city from Saturday night to Sunday morning, with eight people shot dead in four separate incidents over a 12-hour period, police reported.
This included a daytime shooting at Gowanus, where four men were shot dead outside an apartment at 574 Warren Street at around 4:06 pm on December 12. ..
As of Sunday morning, no arrests have been made in this case. The detective was said to be looking for a Burgundy Hyundai sedan that saw him escape from the place after the shot rang.
However, just as the detective Gowanus began investigating the shooting, a bullet rang at Kensington’s car wash, where the suspect fired at a 27-year-old man.
At around 5:34 pm on December 12, police said an unidentified perpetrator shot the victim outside the Giant Car Wash Detail Center at 664 Coney Island Avenue. Headed south on Coney Island Avenue.
Officers of District 66 and the EMS unit responded to the site. Paramedics took the victims to the Maimonides Medical Center to treat injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Two men were shot dead in eastern New York late in the evening, police said.
The incident took place on the corner of Crescent Street and Stanley Avenue at 11:27 pm on December 12. Police reported that a 35-year-old man was shot in the right hip and a 39-year-old man there was grabbed by a bullet in his left leg.
Police said they noticed they were shot after the pair heard the shot and felt pain. The situation surrounding the shooting is under investigation.
Police officers in District 75 responded to the case. Both victims were taken to Brookdale Hospital for treatment of injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Finally, a 31-year-old man was shot outside the Red Hook House at 30 Bush Street in Red Hook around 4:18 am on Sunday morning.
Victims told police that they had heard the shot, felt pain and were injured, as in the case in eastern New York, officials said.
Members of District 76 responded to the scene. EMS took him to a Methodist hospital for the treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The case has not been arrested and investigations are ongoing.
