On Saturday, New York City’s Emergency Management and Health Department urged New Yorkers to take precautions against high and high humidity in their Sunday-Wednesday forecasts.

To help residents overcome the heat, the city will open cooling centers throughout the five wards starting Sunday.
“The best way to overcome the heat is to stay cool and hydrated. Drink plenty of water and avoid intense activity during the hottest months of the day,” said John Scribani, New York City Emergency Management Commissioner. “. “If you don’t have air conditioning in your home, the city has opened hundreds of cooling centers across the five provinces.
Participants must wear face covers within all cooling centers and follow social distance guidelines.
To find a cooling center near you, the city should call 311 (212-639-9675 for video relay services, or TTY: 212-504-4115) or access the city’s cooling center finder. It is recommended.
Opening just in time for the heat waves is the city’s outdoor pool.
It will resume full operation on Saturday and will be available 24/7 from 11am to 3pm and from 4pm to 7pm.
In addition to cooling centers and pools, the city has released a list of additional health and safety tips for defeating heat.
