North Korean hacker trying to access South Korean COVID-19 vaccine maker

North Korean hackers reportedly tried to access a network of South Korean companies developing coronavirus vaccines.

Parliamentary member Ha Tae-keung told News1 on Friday that he had been briefed by the National Intelligence Service on an attempt to hack an unspecified domestic pharmaceutical company.

Ha Tae-keung said North Korea’s hacking attempts were unsuccessful.

News of a breach attempt against a South Korean drug company comes two weeks after Microsoft said the Russian and North Korean governments tried to break into a network of seven drug companies producing the COVID-19 vaccine. ..

According to the company, the target companies and research institutes are based in the United States, Canada, India and South Korea, most of which are vaccinated with coronavirus vaccines at “various stages of clinical trials.”
