NJ COVID Update: Governor Phil Murphy says NJ’s first COVID vaccine to be given on Tuesday

The first resident will be vaccinated at the University Hospital in Newark.
Murphy announced on Twitter.
In ABC’s “this week,” Murphy said that “most” of the state’s first COVID-19 vaccine would be given to healthcare professionals and the rest would be available to “caregivers and staff.”
The governor said he believed that by April or May, anyone in the state would have access to one of the vaccines. He urges people to keep trying to stop the spread of the virus, especially limiting holiday celebrations to relatives.
Despite the “good news” about the COVID-19 vaccine, he said, “The next few weeks will be hell, I’m afraid, so we ask people, please, you. Don’t let your guard down when you’re in a private setting. “

In New Jersey, as in other countries, the virus has been resurrected and daily cases are above the spring highs. The weekly average is also steadily rising.
In New York, the first shipment of Pfizer’s coronavirus vaccine may arrive on Monday.
The state expects 170,000 doses and 346,000 doses of Moderna’s drug next week-if approved.
