Nine injured in fire on USS Abraham Lincoln off California

Nine soldiers were injured in a fire on the USS Abraham Lincoln off the coast of Southern California, officials confirmed Wednesday. No one was seriously injured.

The incident occurred on Tuesday morning, but the fire was quickly discovered and extinguished by the crew, the US Navy said in a statement.The location and cause of the fire were not disclosed.

A Navy statement said, “Nine sailors on board were reported to have sustained minor injuries and were treated aboard the ship. The cause of the fire is under investigation.”

The incident occurred while the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier, USS Abraham Lincoln, was conducting routine operations about 30 miles off the coast of Southern California. The Navy said the ship will continue its planned operations.
