NFL Luis Knicks may have bullets left in his lungs after shooting

Former Giants defensive lineman Luis Knicks III said bullets that fell into the lungs in a shooting in Florida last week could be too risky to be surgically removed.

The 29-year-old Knicks, who played in four Giants games in 2015, was shot on December 8 on suspicion of attempted robbery while filling tires with air at a gate gas station in Jacksonville.

“Currently, surgery is pending. They may leave bullets in me,” Knicks told South Bend Tribune from his room on Friday. “I don’t know what that will be, but as long as the bullet is inside me, they say it’s a subtle situation. [left] lung.

“And I also broke my sternum. My chest hurts. Breathing isn’t great, but I’m alive. And I’m grateful that I’m alive.”

Knicks, who co-played at the University of Notre Dame in 2010-13, added that he would undergo video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) on Monday to remove blood from his lungs. “I’m feeling better … but now I realize it’s going to be a long way,” he told the newspaper on Sunday.

According to the incident report, Knicks told his agent that two young men were approaching. One of them put a flashlight on his face before saying “Give me”. He claimed to police that he was shot after pushing one of the suspects.

Knicks has been watching security footage from gas stations ever since. He believes two men were trying to rob him. The Sheriff’s Office in Jacksonville tweeted a photo of the suspect taken from a video footage last week.

“They were already there before I pulled them up,” Knicks said. “Some guys were inflating their tires in the same area.

“When I pulled it up, everyone was in a hurry behind a small car wash. And after the other guy left, I pulled it up. I had the door open. Nothing was a threat. I didn’t think. Boom, that’s when they came out. “

Nix’s mother launched the GoFundMe page to support medical funding that raised over $ 37,000 as of Monday morning.

“I can feel love,” Knicks said. “A great many people have reached out to participate in social media, and I appreciate their support and prayers. My family was also very supportive. My brother, mother and girlfriend are every day. Come see me

“But they’re mostly worried. I don’t know what would happen if they decided to hold the bullet. They would affect how it would affect my daily life in the future. I don’t know. I just pray that everything works. “
