New Jersey (WABC)-The Murphy administration announced Tuesday that New Jersey Attorney General Grubir Grewar resigned.

Grewal, 48, joins the SEC as Executive Director and heads the department that monitors the market.

“He has the ideal combination of experience, values and leadership skills to lead the executive department,” SEC Chairman Gary Gensler said in a statement. “I look forward to working closely with him to protect investors and eradicate fraud in our market.”

“Through his efforts to confront the Trump administration’s attacks on New Jersey and our diverse communities, initiate historic reforms in police, and lead the fight against gun violence, Justice Secretary Grewar has been able to address our administration. An irreplaceable member and a resident of New Jersey. ” “His leadership will be lost, but I know he is the right person to protect investors across the country.
