Trenton, NJ (CBSNewYork) — New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy announced on Monday that state-wide bars and restaurants must close indoor dining from November 12th to 10pm.
The governor said in a coronavirus briefing that outdoor dining, takeaway and delivery services could continue beyond 10 pm.
“Looking at the data, we are taking surgical steps in the hope that it will help mitigate the current increasing proliferation rate. It seems that everyone here had to take it in March. I don’t want to take widespread and comprehensive action, “Murphy said.

Indoor services may not resume until 5 am, Murphy said. The indoor capacity limit remains at 25%.
The casino must also comply with late-night indoor dining restrictions that do not affect the operation of the game.
“We need to shake off the pandemic fatigue that everyone feels, and I feel that too,” Murphy said. “We have to go back to the idea we saw breaking the curve in the spring.”

You will not be seated in the bar during times when the new restrictions will be enforced. The governor said restaurants could place tables closer than 6 feet if separated by barriers to accommodate customers who normally sit in bars.
Authorities said there was evidence that people sitting in bars, drinking and having close conversations were spreading the virus, CBS2’s Nick Callaway reported.
In addition to indoor restrictions, Murphy decided to build a heating tent (or “foam”) around the outdoor table as long as the restaurant was limited to one group of diners each and was thoroughly cleaned. Announced that it will be allowed.
The announcement was made when the COVID rate rose across the tri-state area. New Jersey records an average of more than 2,300 new cases per day. Hospitalization is also increasing.

The announcement on Monday was even worse news for Teddy Perides, who owns Biagio’s Ristorante in Paramus.
“I’ll be honest with you, my stomach changed because I thought we’d be back to normal. Little by little. It was like being hit with a sledgehammer.” Perides told Callaway.

Milburn’s Milburn Standard opened during the pandemic and somehow achieved its goal, but the restaurant is using its internal capacity to take a big break.
“50%, 100%, the sooner the better,” standard Ryan Harris told CBS2’s Jessica Layton.
Instead, it was hit.
“It’s difficult. It’s a daily struggle,” Harris said. “It will be rough in December, January and February,” Harris said.
Most customers finish their meals by 10 pm, but closing early can have a devastating impact on revenue from bars and private events.
It can have a significant impact on the entire state. Jersey City Mayor Stephen Flop said the COVID isn’t known at this time and that a restaurant curfew can do more harm than good.
“It seems like imposing restrictions and curfew on restaurants will only push more people into the smaller gatherings of the home area, which is a large spreader,” Fulop said.
The new restrictions also affect some youth sports for teams that have to move between different states to compete.
From November 12th, all interstate competitions for indoor youth sports up to high school will be banned.
