New York (CBSNewYork) — A shocking, suspected hatred exhibit was found at the Museum of Jewish Heritage in Battery Park.
Police are investigating after the Confederate flag was pushed into the door handle in front of the museum.
CBS2 is reportedly being reviewed by investigators in surveillance videos. According to sources, three people are approaching the building around 2 am on Friday.
Jack Kriger, president and chief executive officer of the museum, said: “This is a vicious attack on our community and our institutions, and we need to respond quickly and strongly to law enforcement. As evidenced by this week’s events at the Confederate House, The Confederate flag is a powerful symbol of white supremacism. Such hatred has now arrived at our doorstep. A short walk from the train car that once carried the Jews to Auschwitz’s death camp. These horrific acts of bold anti-Jewishism must now be ended. “
