Michigan’s state legislature will be closed on Monday due to security concerns as the presidential elector is expected to vote for presidential elector Joe Biden in the Capitol, a new report said. ..
“Due to safety and security concerns, the Senate and all Senate spaces in downtown Lansing will be closed on Monday, December 14,” said the Senate notice received by The Detroit News.
The State Capitol, according to the notice, allows only “necessary” staff to go to the Capitol by voting by the Electoral College.
Amber McCann, a spokeswoman for Senate leader Mike Sharkey, said the closure of government agencies was recommended by law enforcement agencies.
According to the report, McCann did not elaborate, saying the decision was based on a “trustworthy threat of violence” and not an expected protest.
Biden won 16 electoral votes in Michigan and won with 154,000 votes.
