Police arrested a man with a pistol and 500 ammunition at a Washington checkpoint set up prior to President Joe Biden’s inauguration.
Wesley Allenby Beardsley was suspended at a checkpoint near the US Capitol on Friday.
According to court documents, Beerer approached the checkpoint but did not have valid credentials for the area. The policeman noticed a “gun-related sticker” on his car and asked if there was a weapon inside.
According to the newspaper, Beerer had a pistol under his armrest and told police that police had detained him on the scene. They searched his car and found that the 9mm pistol had a large magazine and more than 500 rounds of ammunition in the car. Officials said he did not have a license to carry guns in Washington.
Beeler was charged with carrying a pistol without a license. His lawyer did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Associated Press.
