Malaysia has the biggest stimulant attack in history

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (AP)-Malaysian authorities have seized more than $ 26 million worth of more than two tonnes of stimulants on a small boat off the west coast of Malaysia. This is the largest transportation volume in Malaysia’s history.

The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency said it had a seizure off the coast of Penang on December 9th over the weekend. Officials said in a statement that maritime patrols had found drugs on a recreational boat with strange behavior.

Methamphetamine is illegally smuggled in many parts of Southeast Asia, China and Australia and is part of the multi-billion dollar drug trade.

According to officials, the man operating the boat tried to escape when he saw the patrol boat and then jumped outboard when the boat plunged. No one else was on board the 12.5 meter (41 ft) ship. He was arrested and the boat was confiscated.

Authorities have found 2,118 kilograms (4,669 pounds) of methamphetamine packed in a Chinese tea parcel.

Authorities do not say where the drug was produced, but Malaysia borders many countries where it is produced.

The Golden Triangle, a remote jungle area bordering Myanmar, Laos and Thailand, was once a major source of opium and heroin in the world. In recent years, it has also become a major producer of methamphetamine.

Earlier this year, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime said the cumulative value of the Asian methamphetamine market would exceed $ 60 billion.
