Hunt for Texas man who killed five neighbors

Texas authorities have launched a massive manhunt for a 38-year-old man accused of murdering five neighbors after being asked to stop shooting his rifle late at night. Anyone is encouraged to call 911.

The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. Friday when lawmakers were called to their home in Cleveland, north of Houston, with a complaint of harassment. Along the way, police received multiple 911 calls of active gunmen at the same location.

“Multiple deputies arrived at the residence and found multiple victims who died at the residence and several other victims in critical condition from multiple gunshot wounds,” said San Jacinto County Sheriff Greg. Capers said.

Four victims were pronounced dead at the scene and an 8-year-old boy was airlifted to a local trauma center but died from his injuries. His three other children were found bloodied but without physical injuries.

“When we got here, the two women in the bedroom were lying on top of two of their three young (surviving) children,” said Sheriff Capers. said all victims were shot in the head “almost execution-style”.

The suspect has been identified as 38-year-old Francisco Oropeza, who fled the scene on foot or by bicycle. Investigators believe the baby opened fire on his neighbor after asking him to stop firing the AR-15 as he was trying to sleep.
