Holiday lights at the Bronx Zoo will shine brighter than ever this year

Perhaps the brightest tradition of the Bronx has regained its brilliance more than ever.

The Bronx Zoo Holiday Lights will be open to the public on Friday in a spectacular array that illuminates far more than lions, tigers and bears. This year’s expansion is literally shining at more wildlife centers until Sunday, January 10.

From realistic animal lanterns to enchanting strings of overhead lights that illuminate many festive passages set up for holiday music performances, to zoo-safely crafted indoor covered special exhibits, Belmont’s masks. It’s hard not to laugh at the cheeks behind this fall and winter.

The Bronx Zoo has more dozens of lanterns on display than last year, with five unique safaris representing different parts of the world and their species.

Of these five, the aquatic-themed safari is arguably the most fun for guests to dive in, as it feels really submerged in a coral reef that sits along the East Australian Current for a few minutes.

Another new addition to the Bronx Zoo lights is the indoor Luminous Garden. This gives zoo visitors an ant perspective on life within the flowering ecosystem of flowers, mushrooms, butterflies and even some insects.

The garden was a favorite of visitors Robin, Austin, and Baby Liam of White Plains. They were all very excited to be at the Bronx Zoo for the first time at night.

These three were also very pleased with the zoo’s social distance protocol. This was partially provided as a polite reminder from the staff.

For Alain and Joan Lehman of Riverdale, who are regulars at the Bronx Zoo, they said the display was better than 2019 and were delighted to see the expansion of the lights.

Almost as heartwarming as an old couple going out at night are dozens of zoo fire pits for socially distant S’more. This is even the Bronx Zoo’s past competitions.

Other forms of entertainment at the Bronx Zoo Holiday Lights include ice sculpture demonstrations, some costumed characters and creatures, as well as stilt pedestrians, souvenirs, and s’mores as well as seasonal treats. Features.
