Governor Murphy announces new restrictions on indoor and outdoor rallies as state incidents skyrocket – CBS New York

Hoboken, NJ (CBSNewYork) — New Jersey is cracking down on the crowd following a weekend of record coronavirus numbers.

To stop the spread, Governor Phil Murphy limits the number of people allowed for indoor and outdoor meetings to 25 to 10 indoors and 500 to 150 outdoors.

This does not include specific religious and political gatherings, or weddings or funerals. Nick Caloway of CBS2 reported on Monday that it could continue with the current 25% capacity rule.

During the weekend, the state has surpassed previous records of all new incidents that retreated in April, and the governor has warned. It left the inhabitants wondering how bad it would be.

“It’s a killer,” said Pat Pope, a resident of Wihoken.

The Pope knew directly and directly how deadly COVID-19 was. She caught the virus and spent nine days on a ventilator in April.

“It was a difficult test. It’s not a hoax. It’s very threatening,” said the Pope.

Now she is nervously watching the second wave hit the Garden State.

Daily infections on weekends exceeded peak cases in April, but spring testing capacity is only part of the present, and better treatment of COVID-19 patients means reduced mortality.

Still, hospitalizations are steadily increasing and people are still dying.

In addition to limiting the size of the crowd, Murphy begs people not to disappoint their vigilance.

“So please, we all do, let’s all go back and go back to the game like spring. This was a very long way, but there are still miles. I’m tired of you. I know that. I don’t blame you. I. Who are you? But we have to put up with it, “Murphy said on Monday.

Coronavirus pandemic

Vaccines may be available by the end of the year, so the governor is the first to reach endangered vulnerable people, front-line healthcare workers, and essential workers before going to the general public. He said he was likely to go to.

Vaccines are the light at the end of the tunnel for many.

“The message is simple. Wear a mask, stay away, and sleep low for a while until the vaccine works,” said Patrick Hughes of Hoboken.

“It’s serious, and I hope they understand it,” the Pope added.

The Pope added that more people want to play their part.

“And that’s amazing. It’s amazing. We hope we can overcome this, and we’ll be sure,” said the Pope.

The Governor said another hurdle facing the state was that about 60% of people did not work with contact trackers, making it nearly impossible to track and track outbreaks.
