Who are your investors and how much did you raise?

GigFinesse recently closed a $3.6M seed round, including high-profile investors Bessemer Venture Partners, Cosmic Venture Partners, NJME Investments, NYU Innovation Venture Fund, Washington Square Angelsand some high-profile angels.

What inspired you to start GigFinesse?

Playing in bands and doing shows with friends, I fell in love with music. Eventually, I became a touring musician and knew all too well the complexities and frustration of booking live entertainment. It wasn’t long before I became immersed in a community of artists who were equally desperate for a better way to source and perform gigs. In the summer of 2019, my co-founder Ryan and I took the plunge. We each left Google and medical school and embarked on a mission to improve the live music environment for both artists and venues.

How is GigFinesse different?

The expression “starving artist” exists because it is very difficult for grassroots musicians to make money playing. Similarly, venues, bars and restaurants struggle to book quality entertainment in a seamless and cost-effective manner. Unfortunately, venues often find it difficult to meet these demands and the associated costs. GigFinesse makes live entertainment bookings easy, sustainable and scalable for venues, and seamless, transparent and fair for artists.

What is GigFinesse’s target market and size?

Concert and event promotion generates more than $50 billion annually in the United States alone. Our mission is to invigorate venues around the world with quality entertainment and help artists find their stage.

GigFinesse partners with venues looking for quality live entertainment. Our partner venues range from traditional concert halls, restaurants, hotels, coffee shops, breweries, wineries and even apartment complexes. GigFinesse’s technology and our amazing team help streamline the cumbersome, costly and often tedious booking process.

How are you preparing for a potential economic slowdown?

Since founding GigFinesse in the summer of 2019, we’ve faced many curveballs. It was a tough situation, but we learned to be very disciplined and run tight operations. For the time being, GigFinesse will continue to operate lean. Smart use of capital with a focus on sustainable growth.

What was the fundraising process like?

It’s safe to say that Q2 2022 fundraising was tough. We are trying to get out of his 2021 bubble, during which companies have been able to make large rounds at high valuations. The Summer 2022 fundraising has brought about a dramatic shift in how investors value companies. Given the market turmoil we have faced since our inception, we have always operated under a Lean Startup methodology. The biggest challenge we faced while raising capital was learning how to balance our time. Fundraising is a full-time job in itself, so balancing work, fundraising, and seemingly personal life was tough.

First and foremost, our team. Everyone at GigFinesse has a world-class work ethic and passion for their work. We keep our heads down and continue to move the industry forward while maintaining a strong corporate culture and dedication to our mission.

What milestones do you plan to achieve in the next six months?

Over the next six months, we are planning several significant expansions that will bring GigFinesse to venues and artists in Los Angeles, Nashville, and Chicago. These markets have been identified based on demand for her GigFinesse in both the artist community and potential venue partners.

What advice can you give to New York companies that haven’t injected fresh capital into their banks?

First and foremost, if you haven’t already figured out how to achieve product market fit, find it. Look closely at all the levers in place to determine what is working and what is not. Eliminate waste and reduce unnecessary expenses. The most important thing is to build a team that you can trust to perform under difficult circumstances and be in your corner.

Where do you see the company going now in the near future?

Our main focus is to continue building the GigFinesse ecosystem in markets that our team is familiar with and that our user base of artists is engaged with. We are also embarking on several major expansions that are in high demand by artists and venues.x

What is your favorite restaurant in the city?

Save the hardest questions for last. There are so many great restaurants in New York, but a place dear to my heart is his Remedy Diner. My team and I have spent countless late nights after shows eating breakfast food!
