Gary Sanchez of the Yankees was forced to leave with a back cramp

The Yankees shorthand lineup was a hit again on Friday night.

Gary Sanchez caught their first 5 innings Lost to Red Sox 6-2 on Friday night Before leaving the game with a back cramp at Fenway Park. He was beaten by backup Rob Brantly and finished sixth.

Sanchez apparently showed no signs of injury. Coach Aaron Boone said he blocked the opening round of the series on Thursday after being “sick” of some foul tips against the Phillies on Wednesday.

Sanchez struck out 0 to 1 and scored before the end. He caught Gerrit Cole on two consecutive starts.

Kyle Higashioka is still on the COVID-19 list — he will meet the team in Boston on Sunday and fly to Tampa for training on Monday to reassess his status — Brantley will play the rest of Friday. I was tasked with catching.

Since the All-Star Break, the Yankees have played without starters Aaron Judge and Gio Urshela (COVID-19) and Luke Voit (knees).
