Funeral held for 16-year-old Claudia Quaity, who was shot dead near Queens Elementary School

new york — The funeral of 16-year-old Claudia Quaity, who was shot dead in Queens last month, will be held Friday night.
“It’s been a very difficult day for me and my family,” said Claudia’s aunt, Benita Beauty.
Hours before the 16-year-old girl was buried, the family stood shoulder to shoulder and reflected on her life, sometimes emotionally.
“She goes back to Ghana to feed the hungry and even wash children on the streets with her family. She gives them the last penny out of her pocket. I will,” said Boti.
A high school student was gunned down a few blocks from his Queens home last month.
Police said she was sitting in a friend’s car when she was shot in the head. she later died.
“Claudia was a very special girl. She handed me the shirt right off my back,” Ms Beauty said.
The incident took place around 8:30 pm on May 10 in Lucas Street, near the school grounds in St Albans.
Investigators believe the teenage girl, whom the family calls an angel, was not the intended target.
“Hold your kids in your arms, love them, talk about gun violence. Talk to your kids. If you have a gun, put your gun down. You’re going to kill us,” said Bawty. said.
Friends, family, and even the mayor gathered at the J. Foster Phillips Funeral Home on Friday to mourn the all too soon death.
“We don’t want this to happen to other families. We want people who did this to be arrested and brought to justice,” Ms Beauty said. “Give yourself to whoever did this. Do the right thing.”
Police said no arrests have been made in the incident so far.
