Former NYCFC intern details alleged harassment by training staff David Villa

After completing an internal investigation to support sexual harassment allegations against former NYCFC employee former star player David Villa, Skyler Badillo has her disturbing experience as a football club intern and how her boss nurtures it. I explained in detail about Taka.

In an interview with The Athletic, Badillo explained that her position at NYCFC is a degree requirement for her final athletic training at Long Island University Brooklyn. In addition to their own sexist remarks while the villas were working, it was the club’s chief trainer Kevin Kristen and assistant trainer Melvin that were allowed to harass them repeatedly. It was under Pamprona.

Vadillo remembered when he couldn’t properly remove the tape from the player’s leg. Kristen said she expected her to be “good at cleaning” because she was a “woman.” As she withdrew from the situation and folded the towel elsewhere in the training room, Kristen said, “Do I want to interrupt your laundry?”

Later in the internship, Vadillo said two other training internships at the NYCFC training facility were subject to ongoing bets between Kristen and Pamplona.

“They told me that there was some bet between head athletic trainer Kevin and intern boss Melvin about which of the two would sleep with me,” Vadillo said. Said. Athletic. “I remember it was just like —’Don’t you know why you’re telling me this?’ But it was a kind of click. You know, you’re information When you find out, you think about everything that happened before that, like “Oh, that wasn’t a good comment, it was actually a joke I wasn’t aware of.”

Vadillo said the majority of NYCFC players respect her and the other women working on the team. But the villa always made her feel uncomfortable. He repeatedly told her that he loved her in front of several NYCFC officials and players, including her boss.

Before the weekend vacation, Villa asked Vadillo what her plans were. To keep the conversation concise, she just told him she was going to be in town.

“I didn’t have much to do, so I just cut the tape and prepared it for training on Monday morning,” Vadillo said. “I was standing there, and my back was on David. He got up, walked behind me, put his hand on my waist, pushed me into the counter where I was standing, and I Whispered in his ear, “You need to be careful of the men in the city.” And he just left … I saw Kevin, and Kevin was looking at me. He has seen everything. “

Vadillo recalled that Kristen and Pamplona were joking that one day they would file a proceeding against Villa for harassment at work. While all this was happening, Vadillo was expected to treat the villa.

“It’s not a lot of fun, when someone is sexually harassing you,” Vadillo said.

In a statement to ESPN after the investigation into Vadillo’s accusations was completed, NYCFC said the club had begun to implement a series of changes. A NYCFC spokesperson provided a list of current and future changes in procedures under pressure from athletics, such as twice-yearly sexual harassment training and enhanced reporting processes for victims of fraud.

Kristen, now 38, left NYCFC in early 2020, months before Vadillo announced the accusation. Pamplona is still working at NYCFC. Neither responded to an interview request from an athletic.
