new york — Fallen family members or co-workers FDNY EMTs Yadira Arroyo On Thursday, six years after she was murdered at work, we remembered her at a memorial service in the Bronx.
Uniforms, flags, and tears were in a solemn, difficult, and proud ceremony in which Arroyo served the city with devotion and love.
An FDNY representative said, “With peace of mind and promise, we will always respect, appreciate, appreciate and celebrate Yadira Arroyo’s live performances.
Arroyo is a single mother of five and was in her 14th year at FDNY when Jose Gonzalez hijacked her ambulance and ran over it twice.
He was initially declared ineligible to stand trial, but that decision was reversed in September.
And in March of this year, Gonzalez was found guilty of first-degree murder.

Arroyo’s family said it took too long to get the conviction they so desperately wanted, and they always knew it wouldn’t come to a conclusion.
“Today we honor her memory,” said Ali Acevedo Hernandez, Arroyo’s aunt. “Many people still remember her.”
The sense of loss was especially strong as I stood on White Plains Road in Soundview on Thursday when my beloved civil servant was killed.
Gonzalez’s sentencing is scheduled for April 5th. He could face his 25-year life sentence.
