Ex-President Trump charged with paying adult actress

NEW YORK, March 31 (Audio) Former President Donald Trump is the highest-ranking former US official to be indicted as he seeks the Republican nomination in next year’s election.

There has been no official announcement from Manhattan prosecutors that he has been indicted, but multiple media sources said Thursday that a grand jury voted in favor of indicting Trump on charges related to hush money paid to a porn star. reported.

Former Trump attorney Michael Cohen, who made the payments and was a key witness for Trump, issued a statement admitting the charges.

In a phone call with ABC Television, President Trump said the indictments were an “attack on our country” and an attempt to “impact the election.”

Because grand jury hearings and their votes are confidential, the exact charges were not immediately known.

Neither the alleged infidelity nor the payment was illegal per se, and the potential charges he faces include having his business records set aside for allegedly hiding the payment as attorney fees and illegally using the payment to facilitate an election. It is a forgery.

Under New York State legal procedures, a grand jury (a panel of citizens) holds confidential preliminary hearings on charges and determines whether there are prima facie cases to bring charges to court.
