Sebastian Ferreira and Soraifer Wolferson each scored goals in the second half of the five minutes as the Houston Dynamo defeated San Jose Earthquakes 2-1 on Sunday night.
Steve Clark made four saves (7-10-4, 25 points) in Houston and stopped the unsuccessful stretch (0-3-1) in four games. Defender Tim Parker made a huge stop in the 74th minute to thwart San Jose’s chances.
Jackson Yuil scored in an earthquake (5-8-7, 22 points) that stopped an undefeated home undefeated win (4-0-4) in eight games.
San Jose also saw the end of an overall three-game undefeated stretch (2-0-1). JT Marsinkovsky made two saves due to the earthquake.
San Jose held the edge of 16-13 with a shot and targeted 6 to 4 in Houston.
The dynamo improved to 3-7 on the street.
Houston scored 1 in 71 minutes after the quake let go of the ball at their end.
Fafà Picault sent the ball to Ferreira, who easily passed Marsinkovsky for the seventh goal of the season.
Five minutes later, Houston moved forward after San Jose shook again. Darwin Quintello passed the pass to Wolferson, who sent a shot of his left foot to the left corner for the fourth goal of the campaign.
In the 74th minute, the match was still a draw, but Jeremy Ebobis of San Jose had a wide open net to shoot with Clark off to the right. However, Parker sprinted towards the net and made a sliding leg save at the goal line to time Evobisse.
In the 53rd minute, San Jose took the lead 1-0 in a sequence starting with a corner kick.
Christian Espinosa kicked a bunch of people in front of the net and Tommy Thompson knocked out the header from the crossbar. The ball bounced towards Yuel, who shot with his right foot from Houston’s Teenage Hadebe’s foot, scoring his fourth goal of the season past Clark.
San Jose scored only two goals in the first half.
Espinoza delivered his left foot boots in the 13th minute, saved by Clark.
Clark grew up again in the 41st minute when Paul Marie fired a blast on his right foot from outside the box. Clark saved with his right hand and kept the game unscored.
