Known for his role on big and small screens such as the movies “Steve Jobs,” “Mank,” and “Now You See Me,” Adam Shapiro has been successful in front of the camera for 20 years.
“I’ve been an actor for 20 years and I’m crazy about food,” Shapiro told Localish LA’s Karl Schmid.
Having to stay home with that obsession during this pandemic and unable to travel to Philadelphia during the summer, Shapiro created his own Philadelphia pretzel in his kitchen in Los Angeles, And so Shappy Pretzel Co.. was born.
“During the first three months of quarantine, all I did was roll pretzels. I decided to watch YouTube and learn,” says Shapiro. “I’ve just started messing around trying to make my own Philadelphia pretzel recipe.”
So what sets Philly Pretzels apart from everything else?
“Philly pretzels aren’t just about shape, color and taste, they’re about culture. No one would buy just one for Philly pretzels,” says Shapiro.
And it seems that one is by no means sufficient. Shappy Pretzel Co. manufactures several varieties, including a sweet bite-sized Li’Albees named after his son.
“You share them with your neighbors, your friends, your office, your school,” Shapiro shared.
