Los Angeles (AP) — Dismissed CNN anchor Chris Cuomo said he would cancel the SiriusXM radio show, a decision following the allegations of sexual harassment.
“While the skin is thick, some families have had a lot of trouble last week,” Cuomo said in a Twitter post on Monday. He said he was back to “focus on what’s coming next.”
Cuomo was criticized for violating the ethics of journalism for trying to help his brother Andrew Cuomo, the former Governor of New York, deal with allegations of harassment. CNN suspended the young Cuomo and fired him on Saturday after learning that his actions were more extensive than previously thought.
Chris Cuomo says he’s just trying to help his brother.
The allegations of harassment became known shortly after CNN broke his relationship with him. The woman who chose to remain anonymous filed a complaint with CNN on Wednesday through her lawyer Debra Katz.
Katz did not provide specific information about alleged actions that may have occurred before Cuomo joined CNN in 2013. Prior to that, I worked at ABC News on Monday, when I didn’t immediately answer questions about Cuomo’s tenure.
Chris Cuomo, through a spokesman, said the allegations of harassment were not true. “If the purpose of making these false unexamined charges was to see Mr. Cuomo punished by CNN, it might explain his unjustified retirement,” a spokesman said.
