DC Trump Rally: A destroyer struck a historic Black Church during a DC demonstration

Washington-A group of people demolished the Black Lives Matter banner, signed from the historic Black Church in downtown Washington, and had a night clash between Donald Trump supporters and opposition demonstrators on Saturday. When he rushed into violence and arrest, he set off a flame.

Police said Sunday police were investigating the incidents at the United Methodist Church in Asbury and the Metropolitan AME Church as a potential hate crime likened to a cross burning by a religious leader.

“This weekend we saw a force of hatred trying to use destruction and intimidation to tear us apart,” said Muriel Bowser, mayor of the District of Columbia. “We won’t let it happen.”

A video posted on Twitter showed a group of men who seemed to drop the BLM banner at the Metropolitan AME Church, as others in the crowd shouted “Who’s Street? Our Street”. .. Another video showed that people poured a booster into the BLM banner and set it on fire in the street when others cheered and cursed Antifa. Someone stands up after about a minute and uses a fire extinguisher to extinguish the flame.

“It was especially hard to see our name, Asbury, burning,” Rev. Ianser M. Mills, the chief pastor of the Asbury Church, said in a statement on Sunday. “For me, it’s reminiscent of the cross burning. When I saw this act in the video, I was indignant and decided to fight the evil that raised my ugly head.”

“We have a duty to move forward with confidence that we are Black Lives Matter and constantly scream the truth,” she added.

The incident followed a rally in support of an unfounded claim that Trump had won the second term. This also resulted in dozens of arrests, several stabs and injuries to police officers.

Police in the District of Columbia said they had arrested nearly 30 people for a variety of crimes, from assault to possession of weapons, arrests and resistance to riots. Violence broke out after sunset on Saturday.

According to police, four men were stabbed around 10 pm after the fighting in downtown. At least one suspect, 29-year-old Philip Johnson of Washington, was arrested on suspicion of assault with dangerous weapons. At least one of the victims was identified as the person who stabbed Johnson, according to police reports obtained by the Associated Press.

Eight police officers were also injured during the demonstration, officials said.
