Crime in New York City: 14-year-old boy and 16-year-old girl shot in front of campus magnet building in Cumbria, Queens

Cambria Heights, Queens (WABC) — A 13-year-old boy has been charged with shooting two students waiting for a bus near their school in Cumbria Heights, Queens.
A 16-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy were struck shortly before 4:50 p.m. Wednesday when a large-scale brawl broke out near the corner of Linden Boulevard and 207th Street.
The two graduated from Q492 Mathematics, Science Studies and Technology Magnet High School and were waiting for a bus when the teenagers opened fire during a massive brawl.
A 16-year-old girl was shot in her right ankle and taken to Cohen Children’s Medical Center.
A 14-year-old boy was shot in his right leg and taken to General Hospital at Long Island Jewish Medical Center.
Both are stable.
When police arrived, the 13-year-old dropped his gun and found him running away.
He was arrested on suspicion of assault and tried in family court.
It is unclear whether the victim was the intended target or happened to be near the fighting.
Police recovered a .380 caliber shell at the scene.
