Only 15 years old, Connor Bedard is considered one of the top prospects for the 2023 NHL draft after looking back on the 2020-21 season in the Western Hockey League. North Vancouver natives averaged 1.87 points per game in the rookie season, scoring higher than McDavid and John Tabares in the first season of the same age.

Bedard became the first WHL player to be given the exceptional position of playing major junior hockey at the age of 15. He has joined McDavid, Tavares, Aaron Ekblood and others as the seventh player in Canadian hockey league history.

In the pandemic shortening season with Regina Patz, played by Islanders head coach Barry Trotz, Bedard scored 28 points (12 goals, 16 assists) in just 15 games. Bedard scored at least one point in every game except one, including two four-point efforts.
