Connecticut police officer dead: Funeral held for murdered officers Dustin DeMonte, Alex Hamsey

Bristol, Connecticut (WABC) — A funeral was held for the two on Friday in Bristol, Connecticut. police officer shot last week What police believe was an ambush following a fake 911 call.

Both officers were posthumously promoted before the funeral.

Funeral of Lieutenant Dustin Demonte, 35, and Sergeant, 34. Alex Hamsey was held at Rentschler Field at Pratt & Whitney Stadium at 615 Silver Lane in East Hartford.

Demonte and Hamsey were shot dead outside their home on Wednesday 12 October after responding to a 911 call about possible domestic violence.

Third Officer Alec Iurat was also shot but survived.

Demonte was hired by the Bristol Police Department in 2012 to work in the Green Hills School patrol department and as a school resource officer.

He leaves behind a wife and two children, one of whom is in the process of giving birth.

Hamzy, 34, was the second police officer to die in 2014 after being hired by the police.

Hamsey grew up in Bristol and is survived by his wife and parents.

The suspect, Nicholas Blucher, 35, was also shot dead at the scene. He died from a gunshot wound to his neck with a spinal cord injury, the coroner’s office said. His death was classified as a homicide. I mean, he didn’t shoot himself.

Brutcher’s brother, Nathan Brutcher, was also wounded in the shooting. Information on his condition was not available.

Governor Ned Lamont issued the following statement after the funeral:

“Today, I would like to thank the thousands of law enforcement officers representing law enforcement across the country who traveled long distances to visit Connecticut in honor of two of our state’s bravest men. I would especially like to thank the Bristol Police Department and both families of Connecticut for helping coordinate the logistics of today’s service. I would like to thank the State Police and the Capital Region Development Authority..

“Today it was an honor to be present at this moving ceremony and to hear a beautiful tribute to these two officers. Lt. DeMonte and Sergeant Hamzy were heroes who served with integrity and courage. We will keep them and their families in our hearts forever.” My prayers are with their families, friends and members of the Bristol Police Department.”
